Scroll to see my thoughts on new releases and old favorites. I mostly read romance but there’s occasionally a literary fiction, mystery or thriller thrown into the mix. Enjoy and please let me know your thoughts!
Hopeless by Elsie Silver
Let's just clear the air about something before moving on - I don't know how any author will ever top Theo from Reckless. BUT that being said, I loved Beau and Bailey so much. I felt like Beau and Bailey's story was a little more disconnected from the group than some of the other stories, and I think I actually liked that. They were in their own little bubble between the bar where Bailey worked and Beau's little corner of the ranch. There were obviously moments where you saw the whole family, but they weren't daily interactions.
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata
This is one of my favorite books of all time. It was one of the first slow (slow slow slow) burn romances that I ever read and I just completely fell in love.
Love Me Today by A.L. Jackson
My favorite part about this book was the way the suspense storyline was revealed. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, never knowing when there would be a reveal into Caleb’s past or Paisley’s past or when something devastating might happen in the present storyline.
The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent
Once I got past the explanation of all of the different houses and warring groups of vampires, I was completely drawn in by the Kejari trials themselves and the competitors’ preparations for them. I loved the way Oraya and Raihn battled one another with their banter, humor and anger and just generally were challenging one another every step of the way, all while somehow learning and understanding one another better than anyone else.
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
This book was just as enjoyable as everyone said it was. Sometimes I shy away from fantasy because I don't have the energy to dive into a whole new world but this story drops you right into the action and gives bits and pieces of the fantasy world as you need them, so there's no lengthy build-up but you also don't feel confused. It's VERY fast-paced so I didn't mind one bit that it was over 500 pages. Honestly, I wish it were longer! As I was reading this, I felt the same way I remember feeling my first time reading Hunger Games. I was enamored with the world.
Echoes of You by Catherine Cowles
If you love forehead nuzzles, temple kisses, nighttime snuggles, a protective hero and mutual pining, I think you’ll love this book!
The Summer We Fell by Elizabeth O’Roark
If you love protective heroes and ALL THE ANGST, I think you’ll love this forbidden second chance romance, too.
Georgia, All Along by Kate Clayborn
I actually downloaded both the audiobook and ebook of this from my library and I’m so glad I got both because the audiobook completely brought Levi to life for me! This story is dual POV and Levi is such a quiet closed-off character but the narrator’s tone of voice and southern boy accent added so much to the character to me that I can’t imagine having the same experience without that!
Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez
I didn't really expect to feel otherwise, but I really really loved this book! I was a huge fan of Part of Your World and this was an amazing second story in the series.
Just My Type by Falon Ballard
I really enjoyed this second-chance workplace romance! Lana is a journalist for an online magazine and focuses on articles about dating. She's a serial monogamist and has been jumping from one long-term relationship to another through her entire adulthood. She thought her boyfriend of 4 years was about to propose but he took them back to their first date spot to dump her instead. After drowning her sorrows for a night, she has to go into work for a mandatory meeting the next morning, only to come face-to-face with Seth, her first love. After they broke up at the end of high school, he went on to become a jet-setting journalist, covering stories all over the world. Now he's in LA, trying to secure a job with the Chronicle, who just acquired her online magazine. Seth is a serial dater, so he and Lana are pitted against one another.
Long Shot by Kennedy Ryan
This book was distressing and emotional at times but ultimately, an epic love story! This is a right person-wrong time forbidden romance but unfortunately for Iris it is much darker than that.
Betting On the Boy Next Door by Melanie Jacobson
Betting On the Boy Next Door is a dual POV clean rom com with some forced proximity, fake dating, amazing roommates, loving grandparents and a quirky parrot.
