Shadows of You by Catherine Cowles

Is it wrong to say that my favorite part of book 3 of this series was the preview for Roan's story in book #4? I really loved that book too, but I was just so ready to hear about Roan!

Roan has never been the same since he was wrongly accused of murdering/attacking people in his hometown when he was just 18 years old. But he has an even bigger secret that he's been keeping all of this time that further reinforces the wall he has up between him and essentially everyone else, including his family. He prefers being on his own and being with animals, so his work with Fish & Wildlife is perfect. Until it brings him to Aspen, that is, and it disrupts his whole world.

I really loved Aspen's back story! I don't want to spoil any of the suspense storyline so I won't share too much about Aspen, but just know that her story is not what you thought. I thought Cady was just so precious and was a perfect addition to this story. I really appreciated that she was written age-appropriately, too. She was an integral part of their romance and I loved seeing them go from strangers to a family.

Roan was so protective, as all of the men in Catherine's books are, but he was also so sweet and kind to Aspen and Cady both. I will say, his pet name for Aspen was definitely not my favorite lol, but I will let it slide because I loved everything else so much. And the suspense in this story was SO surprising! I didn't see it coming AT ALL and I can't wait for you to be as shocked as I was (or maybe I just don't pick up on clues - haha!).

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC and ALC from the author, so I got to read the ebook and also listen to the audiobook simultaneously, which is my favorite way to read! The narrators were phenomenal. I thought they stood out from the others in this series and they matched what I though the characters would sound like in my head, which is always good!

Who else is ready for Lawson to find his love story? And to find out what's been going on with Luke?!
