To Love Jason Thorn by Ella Maise

Jason and Olive practically grew up together. He was her older brother’s best friend and he essentially lived with them since he came from a broken home. Olive, even as a little girl, loved him from the very beginning. Jason was forced to move away with his dad as he was about to finish high school and then they all lost touch.

Now Olive is finishing college and has written a romance novel that is being optioned for a movie. And the directors want Jason cast as the lead, which is how the two are reunited. Jason has a horrible reputation with women and is constantly getting himself in trouble, which is costing him career opportunities. His publicist and manager see an opportunity to have Olive be his wife for a few years - added fame for her writing plus a cleaner more wholesome image for Jason.

I was really enjoying the beginning of this book! I thought it was sweet showing the scenes between Olive and Jason when they were kids when she had such a big crush on him. And I thought there were some hilarious scenes of Olive losing her mind when they were adults and reconnecting after 8 years. Plus no one really knew Jason he was the inspiration for that male main character all along. Also, I love fake dating and marriage of convenience stories so I enjoyed the times they had to be out together for the public and she wasn’t sure what was real. And I loved how he was falling for her without realizing it. But then at about the 60%-70% mark, it was suddenly super steamy but the steamy scenes weren’t really moving the story along in any way. And then I hated every single bit of the third act conflict/drama. I didn’t like the conflict itself and didn’t like any of the resolution part of it. It was very soap-opera-ish and just not something I enjoyed personally. I was bummed I didn’t end up loving it because I was really enjoying the narrators! But if you enjoy crazy soap opera drama, you might really love this one yourself!
