Love Me Tomorrow by Maria Luis

This book opens with Savannah starting her time on a Bachelorette-style TV show, forced to participate by her family. We get to see part of the first episode taping unfold in real time and then jump several months into the future. Savannah is back in New Orleans and is forced to talk with Owen. I won't spoil anything, but they're not on great terms despite having been close friends in the past. Savannah's restaurant-mogul family is trying to buy the space where Owen's tattoo shop resides to develop a hotel and Savannah and Owen just continue their fighting and animosity. Owen is heartbroken at being rejected. They're very attracted to one another but Owen once dated Savannah's sister and her father also forbade Savannah from moving forward with Owen.

I did appreciate how the characters shared vulnerabilities between them as they decided to move forward together regardless of consequences and what others might think. There is a lot of drama in the story as the TV show episodes begin to air and the media shows a more scrutinizing interest in Savannah and Owen's lives and I enjoyed the way they supported one another throughout those incidents. I felt, however, like there were perhaps a few too many of these conflict/drama points towards the end of the story and it made the book run longer than it needed to. I think I would have preferred that time being used to show us how Savannah & Owen's friendship developed in the first place instead of that just being referenced in past tense.

This was dual POV, which I always enjoy, although I will say I felt like the narrator's voices didn't quite match with the cover models (or what I thought those characters would sound like based on the cover) and it took me out of the reading experience for a bit. The male narrator is one I've enjoyed in the past, but his portrayal of Owen sounded like he was barely restraining his anger for the majority of the book and it felt more intense than it needed to be. The book did pique my interest in other characters in the story and I'm definitely interested in going back and reading earlier books in the series!
