The Book Loving Photographer

Long Shot by Kennedy Ryan

This is my first Kennedy Ryan book. Like, are you even a romance reader if you haven’t read her books? I’m ashamed! But I loved this one!

This book was distressing and emotional at times but ultimately, an epic love story!

Iris and August share a special connection from the first time they meet. August is about to play in the college national basketball championship when he meets Iris at the bar, while she’s yelling at the Lakers game. They instantly start bantering and swapping stories and have outstayed everyone else before they know it. But iris has a boyfriend. And August finds out the next day at the game that her boyfriend is his rival, Caleb. This is a right person-wrong time forbidden romance but unfortunately for Iris it is much darker than that. She gets pregnant and loses her chance to start her career. The pregnancy also changed her relationship with Caleb and now she and the baby are in danger. She keeps running into August but she can’t tell him why they can’t be together. It takes so much pain and courage for Iris and August to get their chance. There is a lot of on-page violence that doesn’t involve the hero, so beware if that would be upsetting to you.

August is such a wonderful hero. He pines for Iris and gives up so much to show her that she’s his number one priority and always will be. I love his relationship with her daughter (although I kind of wish we got to see a bit more of that). If you like the angst of romances that take a long time for the couple to have their right time and/or if you enjoy those epic love stories that almost seem fated in a way and/or if you love amazingly strong heroines, definitely give this one a try.

Which author have you not read yet that everyone else has?

I was able to snag the audio from Hoopla and the ebook from Kindle Unlimited so I flipped back and forth between formats and really enjoyed the experience! This book was dual POV and both narrators did a great job.
