Don’t Forget Me Tomorrow by A.L. Jackson

I was a huge fan of the first book in this series and I was so interested to see things unfold between Ryder and Dakota based on the glimpses we had of them in the first book.

I really enjoyed the plot of this book. Dakota had a break-in at her house so she and her son Kayden go to stay with Ryder. We know Ryder is super protective of Dakota, but we also know he doesn't think he's worthy of being with her because of something dark and secret that's in his life that could put them in danger. This story is written in first person POV but it has flashback chapters in third person which sheds light on how Dakota and Ryder became so close as kids, then teens and then adults. It also shows how Ryder got to where he is today. I don't always enjoy "then & now" storylines but this format worked really well for me.

Ryder was such a tortured hero but it was obvious to everyone how much he loved Dakota and Kayden so it was easy to root for him. I think I got a bit bogged down in the additional descriptive phrases and sentences that could stretch one point into a half a page, yet still could leave you unsure of what exactly it was referring to. I guess it just seemed like it added more to the length without always adding a lot to my reading experience. Or maybe I was just really anxious to get to all of the suspense! I was actually super surprised with the ending but I wish the suspense had started a bit earlier in the book because the main part of it wasn't until the last 10% or so.

I'm definitely excited to continue with the series, though!

Thank you to the author and Valentine PR for an advanced copy to review.
