Delicate Escape by Catherine Cowles
Where are all of my romantic suspense lovers? If you haven’t tried any of Catherine Cowles’s books yet, you’re missing out! Each series keeps getting better than the rest, so you’re in for a treat!
In Delicate Escape, Thea has fled an abusive relationship and is living off the grid and in hiding, getting paid only in cash and having her rent paid through an anonymous trust. One of Thea’s coworkers (heroine from book 1 in this series) has several foster siblings and Shep is one of them. He can’t help but be intrigued by Thea and the more time he spends with her, the more he can tell she’s in the run and his protective nature kicks in. He’s so sweet, so caring, and developing through his own journey trying to find his place in life. Thea is standoffish and afraid to let him in, but really wants to!
If you like your romantic suspense to be pretty evenly balanced with suspense and romance, this series is great for you. And the suspense/mystery will keep you on your toes! Also, if you love a full cast of characters, this is perfect, because Shep’s whole family is involved throughout the story. And if you love to listen rather than (or in addition to) reading with your eyeballs, Catherine Cowles always gets the best narrators. I got a chance to listen to Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton do their thing, and they were fabulous as always! They’re some of my favorite romance narrators.
Thank you to the author for advanced eARC and ALC copies.
