The Worst Wedding Date by Pippa Grant
I will be photographing two weddings this weekend, so I thought it was a good time to post about The Worst Wedding Date by @pippa.grant!
This book takes place at a destination wedding where our heroine Laney, a very straight-laced rule follower, is the Maid of Honor. She’s been put in charge of Theo, the bride’s brother. He and the groom aren’t getting along so Laney is asked to be the buffer. Which would be fine if they didn’t have a years-long hatred toward one another.
I should preface this by saying this is a totally wackadoodles story, but in a good way! If you enjoy quirky crazy rom coms, then I think you’ll enjoy this. But if you’re not up for craziness that requires you to suspend disbelief, this might not be for you.
The story follows Laney and Theo as ridiculous thing after ridiculous thing happens to them, and as Laney realizes it isn’t really that Theo is out to cause catastrophes - they just happen! And she also realizes that under the bad boy persona is a really squishy heart. Theo is hiding some secrets from everyone (including the reader for a while!) and it predictably becomes part of their conflict but I enjoyed the resolution. My favorite part of the book was seeing Laney as she transformed and took hold of the life she wanted for herself.
One of my favorite quotes: “You’re my favorite part of paradise,” he whispers. “Whatever happens, I just want you to know - you’ve been my favorite.”
